Trip hop at its best

Dear friends and listeners....Attica Blues is a 90’s trip-hop band, with a trademark sound including down-tempo yet funky rhythms, obscure samples and female vocals. Their sound was a perfect mix of past and actual sounds.The band was formed in 1993 by Tony Nwachukwu and Charlie Dark. Charlie Dark was a part time journalist and DJ and had been approached by James Lavelle to produce and engineer tracks for his Mo Wax record label Their first release, Vibes, Scribes and Dusty 45’s Ep, contained the down tempo classic Contemplating Jazz. Featuring the vocals of third member Roba El-Essawy, Attica Blues’ sound contained the trademark trip-hop aspects like heavy beats, vocals and deep dark atmospheres.....enjoy ....zero

Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....Modulo5 è un progetto tutto italiano, nato nel 2003 da un'idea di Dave Masoch, DJ e fondatore di Masoch Club Entertainment insieme a Michael Myers. Nel 2006 Dave incontrò Paolo ‘Apollo’ Negri,(vedi post antecedente n.d.r.) famoso hammondista molto apprezzato e coinvolto con numerosi gruppi rock italiani, ed insieme decisero di far nascere Modulo5. Fra le influenze musicali di Modulo5 vi sono lo Space Age Pop, le colonne sonore di film di fantascienza degli anni '50, il Soul e il Funk, l'Hammond Groove, la Bossa Nova, le colonne sonore di B-Movies italiani degli anni '60 e quelle del cinema italiano Soft-Core degli anni '70. Dear Friends and listeners....."Unbeltipo" comes from the remains of the fantastic defunct band Tipographica, who were a band that existed from 1986 to 1998 and played experimental jazz-rock with strong inspiration from Frank Zappa and his sometimes strange twisted ,but always amazing music.

The man behind Unbeltipo is the Japanese guitarist Tsuneo Imahori who composes, produces and arranges all of the bands music. Unbeltipo mainly plays in the trio format with guitar, bass and drums. On the first release Imahori played with various different musicians, but on the last four he has created a main core version of the band with himself on guitars, Mitsuru Nasuno on bass and Yasuo Sano on drums....enjoy ........zero

Chicago acid jazz outfit Liquid Soul originally comprised saxophonist/musical director Mars Williams ex Psichedelic furs, DJ Jesse de la Peña, guitarist Tommy Klein, bassist Ricky Showalter, trumpeter Ron Haynes, keyboardist Frankie Hill, and drummer Dan Leali; formed in 1993, the group quickly emerged as a Windy City club favorite thanks to their regular Sunday night gigs at The Elbo Room, and soon recorded a self-titled debut LP for their own "Soul What" label.Enjoy....zero

Cari amici ed ascoltatori....il milanese Bollani si è diplomato in pianoforte al conservatorio di Firenze nel 1993. Studia jazz con diversi insegnanti tra cui il grandissimo Luca Flores, dalla cui naturalezza nell'improvvisazione al pianoforte rimane folgorato. Dopo una breve esperienza pop con Irene Grandi, Raf e Jovanotti è diventato velocemente uno dei jazzisti italiani più apprezzati da critica e pubblico.

Ha collaborato con molti grandi musicisti, come Gato Barbieri, Lee Konitz, Pat Metheny, Michel Portal, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Richard Galliano, Han Bennink e Phil Woods. La collaborazione più importante e prolifica è quella col suo mentore, il trombettista Enrico Rava.
Nel 1998 Bollani vince il premio della rivista Musica jazz come miglior nuovo talento, premio conferitogli anche dalla rivista giapponese Swing journal (New Star Award) nel 2003, anno in cui la rivista inglese Mojo segnala il suo disco Småt Småt come uno dei migliori dell'anno. Tra gli ultimi lavori I Visionari (2005), in formazione di quintetto, Piano Solo (2006), The Third Man (2007), con il trombettista Rava, e l'ultimo BollaniCarioca (2007) in cui il pianista con alcuni altri musicisti rivisita brani della tradizione brasiliana. Sempre nel 2007 Bollani vince il prestigioso Hans Koller European Jazz Prize come migliore musicista europeo dell’anno 2007.
