Dear friends and listeners....
trumpeter and Chicago jazz-scene fixture Corey Wilkes has played with everyone from the Chicago Art Ensemble to DJ Logic to Wynton Marsalis to the Exploding Star Orchestra. DROP IT, Wilkes's 2008 solo effort, displays the young lion's musical range, encompassing post-bop, loungy groove and light funk (not to mention a cover of the Nina Simone classic "Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter"). While DROP IT may not exhibit Wilkes's more adventurous side (as he's displayed in plenty of free-jazz contexts), it does make for a sweet, contemporary jazz set that sounds smoothly......enjoy HERE.....zero

Steps

Sparano in classifica (8 settimane primo negli USA) "Do It 'Till You're Satisfied" seguito da "Express". ...HERE....zero

Piatto tipico nativo-americano...

Cari amici ed ascoltatori....
"Grits is a Native American corn-based food common in the Southern United States, consisting of coarsely ground corn" (Wikipedia), ....non nel nostro caso in quanto trattasi di primo lavoro di questi inglesi di Brighton per la Freestyle Records, assieme dal 2005 il duo formato dal chitarrista Stuart ''Countryboy'' Carter and Nick ''The Organiser'' Harris alle tastiere assieme a un bassista e a un batterista " James e Johnny" (oscuri side man!?) danno vita a un quartetto fotografia di altri tempi....una bella cover dei The Soul Drifters 'Funky Soul Brother', il pezzo hit "Boom Boom"...insomma trattasi di modern funk ruvido quel che basta....strumenti veri....niente sample....mi verrebbe quasi da dire Lo-fi.....be giudicate un po' voi....HERE...enjoy, zero

The king

Dear friends and listeners.....
Bluesman Albert King was one of the premier electric guitar stylists of the post-World War II period. By playing left-handed and holding his guitar upside-down (with the strings set for a right-handed player), and by concentrating on tone and intensity more than flash, King fashioned over his long career, a sound that was both distinctive and highly influential. Albert King is on top form throughout this album. which was recorded live at the Fillmore Auditorium on June 26, 1968. His solos are piercing and intense. The band is great, but King steals the show. His funky, earthy version of Herbie Hancock's classic "Watermelon Man" is a great example of the great man's guitar technique. In fact, the whole album is a display of some of King's best fretwork. The tracks are taken from the same dates as his "Live Wire/Blues Power" album, and the album contains some outtakes from those dates....enjoy HERE....zero

Blues roots

Dear friends and listeners.....
The original Charles Ford Band from Ukiah, Northern California was completely dedicated to making genuine 100% blues-based music. The Charles Ford Band were ground breakers in blues, and were one of the most influential West Coast blues bands beginning in the early seventies. The late Charles Ford, and his sons, Patrick, Robben, and Mark have contributed immensely to blues music for many years now. There have been many variations of Ford blues bands, and a large chunk of great American blues music has been created by the great Ford clan. "Hotshots"is a no frills, unpretentious blues album, arranged by Robben Ford, with good Ford compositions, and some great covers. There are elements of "swing" blues, and R&B on the album, and if you like your jazz, listen to Gary McFarland's "Pecos Pete" which borders on fusion. Great stuff!....enjoy HERE....zero

Bluegrass ?!?

Dear friends and listeners....

Coming out of Nashville, Delilah Why combines a new rock sound with a taste of yester-year’s Southern Rock. Delilah Why’s music is fresh and pleasing to the rock n’ roll soul in a day and age where much of today’s music is clouded by experimental noises and forced songwriting. Many people just love a simple rock tune with a tasty hook and a groove that makes you want to dance. That’s what Delilah Why brings to the table....enjoy HERE....zero

Still schema

Dear friends and listeners.....
Paolo Fedreghini is a sincere and passionate music connoisseur, a musician who can also play the role of the producer, with a keen attitude to the research of various sounds, with a preference for electronic music. He meets Marco Bianchi, pianist, composer and friend with a log of six albums of contaminated music, mainly jazz, and various co-operations with Italian musicians and artists of world renown. Together the give birth to projects as musicians, composers and producers. Their arrival at Schema Records is on the occasion of the release of the album "Officine" in the name of Paul & Mark for the label Milano 2000, a debut album that marked the start of their by now consolidated cooperation. Paolo and Marco created a small structure that today is the confirmation of how important it is to have a base, a place where their musician friends can meet to trade cultural experiences and professionally grow, a small recording studio, well equipped even for live takes, that was the stage of all the co-operations of this album, so that Paolo and Marco decided to call it "Several People". One of the most relevant contributions to the album was offered by Ermanno Principe, a real talent, a versatile musician who sings on this album. He's a drummer. He worked with many important musicians on the Italian and international jazz scene, such as Dado Moroni, Barry Harris and more recently Steve Grossman. The other male voice is Daniel Richards'. Claudia Bernath and Angela Baggi, the woman vocalists of this project, often worked with Marco and Paolo in live and studio projects, just like Maxx Furian, one of the most appreciated Italian drummers, Marco Ricci, elegant double bass player, Angelo Pusceddu, volcanic percussionist, and Giacomo Tringali, J. J. Sansone, Mimmo Valente and Renato Daiello in the brass section.....enjoy HERE.....zero

Jaz'presso

Dear friends and listeners....
excellent Jazz dance album..the trombone player and composer Hiroaki Kono called and formed an instrumental club jazz band “jaz’presso” in December 2005 in Osaka. He calls his own activities the “.jp” project and pursues and creates sound from a variety of different angles. Cool and lyrical sounds are created by 6 members consist of a trombone player, a flugelhorn player, a piano player, a bassist, a drummer and percussionist. It brings new perspectives to the “live” music. They merge mode taste jazz and club jazz, and transmit it with the flavor of Latin music.....enjoy HERE....zero

Max double post

Dear friends and listeners....
Stack' em high" represents the last 10 years of musical activity of Max Paparella. An album that cannot be pigeonholed as belonging to a specific musical genre because there have been so many musical influences since the end of the '90s. Various tracks are strongly driven by their resonance and rhythmic funk, just as the harmonies and melodies are inspired by the electric jazz of the '70s. The making of the album saw the participation of a number of superb musicians and friends, including Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Link Quartet, Wicked Minds, Modulo 5) considered one of the finest Hammond organ players in the world, the highly talented Simone Stefanini (guitarist of band Nove Vite), and Marco Bergami, jazz saxophone player, greatly inspired by the music of the great John Coltrane and Michael Brecker.....enjoy HERE....zero (Thx Lord Black)

Natural self

Dear friends and listeners.....
Natural Self is essentially a solo project, but Keno-1, aka Nathaniel Pearn , has a couple of guest lead vocal spots -- including MC Abdominal on the jazzy hip hop gem "Breathe Deep" and Andreya Triana on "The Rising" -- a standout track that mixes of global funk horns, broken beats and club soul. Guest horns, guitar and Rhodes bring some live instrumental depth to the beats, and the album's truly unique gem for Natural Self and the Tru Thoughts label....enjoy HERE....zero
